Grassroots’ Partners are named 2016 Best for the World Funds
We are excited to announce that two of our partner funds – Prospero Microfinanzas and the India Financial Inclusion Fund (IFIF) – were named in the first annual Best for the World Funds list, which recognizes the impact of 50 GIIRS Rated funds in 2016. Prospero was among the top 5 emerging markets funds for its portfolio companies’ Impact Business Model (IBM) rating, which recognizes companies that are specifically designed to solve social or environmental problems. IFIF also received a top rating for its IBM and also ranked among the top 5 emerging markets funds for the Operations Rating of its portfolio companies, reflecting the impact of each business in how it operates as far as “ESG,” or Environmental, Social and Governance, practices. We are very proud of this recognition of our portfolio companies’ efforts in using business as a means to benefit society and humanity. Amit Brar is in Amsterdam and accepted the awards on behalf of Grassroots and our partners.
Grassroots and our partners were among the 15 Pioneer Funds that participated in the beta test of GIIRS starting in 2010. Since then, GIIRS has rated over 90 investment funds and 2,000 companies.
