Amitabh Brar (Amit) has over ten years’ experience in the design, oversight and execution of microfinance. During his career Amit has been involved in funding and monitoring; market research, due diligence and capacity building; and direct management of microfinance organizations.
Prior to joining GCM, Amit served as Investment Director for its partner in India, Caspian Impact Investment Adviser Pvt Ltd. In this role Amit conducted due diligence and market research for a South-East Asia focused microfinance fund; and led investor monitoring and intervention in portfolio companies in India.
Amit has also served as Director of Operations of MISFA – an investment fund in Kabul, Afghanistan with US$200 mil invested in fifteen microfinance organizations. Earlier, Amit was the Team Leader at EDA Rural Systems, India where he was the core member of Social Rating Team covering South and South-East Asia.
Amit has also led business planning and capital advisory projects in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh for Shorebank International (Enclude). He started his career in microfinance in 2002 as a Research Assistant with CGAP, USA.
Amit is a CFA Charterholder, and holds M.S. in Finance from London Business School.
